Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Nails

While October is more known for being Breast Cancer Awareness month, it is also Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness month. I have a very lovely, strong friend who unfortunately lost her daughter at beginning of 2011. As a way to honor not only my friend and also her daughter, I wanted to dedicate my first post in October to them and to help bring more awareness to pregnancy and infant loss.
I based my design off the logo from the Faces of Loss, Faces of Hope blog. The blog is dedicated to helping women and families share their stories about pregnancy and infant loss while also providing resources and advice.
The base color used is Weird Indeed Pivot! (post here), the hearts are Sinful Colors Slate (post here) and for the feet design I used Wet n Wild French White. For the designs themselves, I used the dotting tool in the nail art brush kit from Born Pretty (post here).
While I know my nail art skills are not as good as others, I tried in hopes to only bring a smile to my friend's face and bring awareness to this cause. My friend has a blog that shares her very touching story and I will edit this post if she is comfortable with me sharing it. Edit to add: Maggie has she is comfortable with me sharing her blog :) You can find her beautiful and very touching story here.

There are many wonderful sites dedicated to Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness I have come across; Faces of Loss, Faces of HopeGrieve Out Loud and The Compassionate Friends. If there anymore anyone would like me to add I will be happy to do so. I urge everyone to do whatever you can to bring awareness to this cause wether it be donating or talking to others about it, every small act helps.

Weird Indeed Pivot!

I hope everyone had a great weekend! I was able to get a lot of projects done around the house so, I had a very productive weekend. :) Previously, I posted about Weird Indeed Daria & Jane here. I never got around to posting the other polish I purchased at the same time, Pivot! So today is the day for swatches of it. ;)

Weird Indeed Pivot! is a lighter turquoise creme with fine holographic glitter.
All fingers are 2 coats of Pivot! over Seche Rebuild and under Seche Vite.
If you aren't a fan of the show Friends, Pivot! is a quote used by Ross in the episode "The One With The Cop" while he is  moving a couch upstairs. Not only is the name of this polish amazing, the color is as well! The holographic glitter doesn't over power the base color and the two combine to create a gorgeous polish. :) My camera did have some trouble picking up the true color, it is a tad more green my pictures.

Sadly, Weird Indeed no longer makes polish. :( There are still a few colors in stock on her Facebook located here (Click on the "Shop Now" icon). I am not sure they are still available though, so please make sure to message her first and ask.

Weird Indeed Daria & Jane

I was really sad when I learned Weird Indeed was closing up shop. I had missed out on the polishes I wanted on her previous restocks so, when the last and final restock came around I made sure to grab the two I wanted. I was able to grab Pivot! and the bottle I am swatching today, Daria & Jane.

Daria & Jane is described as a dark purple jelly with lots of red glitter and multi-colored hex glitters.
All fingers are 3 coats of Daria & Jane over a base coat of Seche Rebuild and with a top coat of Seche Vite.
I'll be honest the only reason I really wanted this polish was for it's name! I watched Daria when I was younger and still do when it randomly pops up on TV. I do love this color as well, though! The base color mixed with the smaller red glitter help it "glow" in normal light. The other glitters mixed in just "work" with everything else this polish has to offer.

Unfortunately, Weird Indeed will no longer be making polish. At this time, there are a few colors in stock on her Facebook located here (Click on the "Shop Now" button to view her shop). Everyone needs at least one bottle for the dolphin/snail and holographic label. ;)

Hope everyone has a great weekend!
